Radford and Charlotte meet in the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational Tournament on Tuesday, March 21. The Highlanders defeated top seed, San Jose State by 10 points in a defensive showdown. The 49ers beat Milwaukee from the start as the Panthers never led in the game. These two teams will tip off at 9 P.M. EST.
Radford is 21-14 overall and they finished in second place with a 12-6 conference record in the Big South. Radford lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament to Campbell by a single basket. The Highlanders have won their first games in the CBI Tournament after bowing out in their conference tournament.
The Highlanders defeated Tarleton in overtime in the opening game of the CBI Tournament on Sunday, March 19. Radford followed it with a big win over the number one team in the tournament, San Jose State. The Highlanders defeated the Spartans 67-57 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Monday, March 20.
Radford shot 41.5% from the field and 37.5% from behind the 3-point line in the win. The Highlanders were led by DaQuan Smith with 16 points on 6-for-16 shooting. Smith leads the team with 14 points per game.
