Charlotte vs. Georgia State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-17-2022

The Georgia State Panthers (0-2) will host the Charlotte 49ers (0-3) on Saturday in a Sun Belt vs Conference USA matchup. The Panthers are a 19.5-point favorite, and the total is set at 61.5. Last season Georgia State beat Charlotte 20-9 when these team two met in Atlanta.

The Charlotte 49ers came into the season without high expectations. In the Conference USA Media Poll, Charlotte was predicted to finish seventh out of 11 teams this season, and their over/under win total was set at 4.5.

In 2021 Charlotte finished the season 5-7 straight-up and 5-6-1 ATS. They were much better when favored going a perfect 4-0 against the spread. But when the 49ers were an underdog, like they will be on Saturday, they were 1-6-1 ATS in 2021.

Charlotte brought back eight starters on offense and six defensively, but 2022 has been terrible. The 49ers are 0-3 both straight up and against the spread with a loss to FAU 43-13, William & Mary 41-24, and Maryland 56-21.

The offense has averaged 252.3 yards through the first three games and 96.3 yards per game rushing. On defense, the 49ers have allowed an NCAA-worst 551 yards per game, with 313 coming through the air and 238 on the ground.

To win Saturday, the 49ers will need to score points, and a lingering issue is that quarterback Chris Reynolds is questionable after missing the last two games. In 2021 Reynolds completed 63.9% of his passes for 2,680 yards with 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He played in the opener against FAU and went 14 out of 19 with 196 yards and two touchdowns. Due to Reynold's injury, Charlotte has also used three other QBs this season, led by freshman Xavier Williams who has completed 53.4% of his passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns over two games.& #xA0;
