The Charlotte Hornets limp into Philadelphia on the heels of a four-game losing streak and with a depleted roster. On Friday night, the Hornets lost their fourth straight game with a 121-102 loss to the Knicks at home. One of the few remaining starters from the team's projected starting lineup, Terry Rozier, led the way with 24 points in the loss. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 20 points as he continues to pump in points as one of the team's few legitimate scoring options. Rozier and Oubre have scored at least 20 points each in the team's last seven games. With the loss on Friday night, Charlotte is now just 3-7 in their last ten games.

“They tattooed us on the glass,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “How many rebounds you’re going to get speaks to the number of shots, too. … We were a minus-10 in second-chance points, and it’s crushing. I don’t know what to do about t hat one, to be honest with you. It’s the same thing. We’ve got to hit, we’ve got to have everybody in there. We’ve got to find a way to get more rebounds.”

The Hornets have struggled over the better part of the season due in large part to a roster struggling through injuries. Starting point guard LaMelo Ball remains out with an ankle injury and fellow projected starters Gordon Hayward (shoulder) and Cody Martin (knee) are out as well. Backup point guard Dennis Smith Jr. is also out with his own ankle injury which has put more pressure on the likes of Rozier and Oubre. On the season, the Hornets have plummeted to 27th in the league in scoring after being a top-10 scoring team last season. The Hornets are also just 28th in shooting percentage as they show the wear and tear of playing shorthanded night in and night out.
