Charlotte Hornets vs. Orlando Magic Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-14-2022

The Charlotte Hornets (3-11, 5-8-1 ATS, 7-6 O/U) take on the Orlando Magic (4-9, 6-6-1 ATS, 7-6 O/U)  in a divisional battle on Monday night. The Hornets were clobbered by the Heat on Saturday. The Magic earned a stellar home win against the Suns in their previous action. Orlando recorded a 113-93 home win against Charlotte last month.

The Charlotte Hornets conclude a road trek in this one and will be glad to return home. It’s been an ugly string of games, losing eight consecutive games as the offense continues due to struggle due to key injuries. They took the Heat to OT in Thursday’s meeting but were labeled 8.5-point dogs in a rough 132-115 road loss in Miami in Saturday’s rematch. The Hornets have only covered the points in one out of their last eight games.

Terry Rozier is producing, scoring at least 19 points in three out of his last four games but is shooting below 40% in most efforts. The 28-year-old shooting guard scored 22 on Saturday and is averaging 21 PPG along with 5.4 RPG. Kelly Oubre Jr. has reached 20 points in two straight games. The 26-year-old shooting guard has seen an increase in playing time due to the injuries and enters with an average of 18.5 PPG on 42% shooting. LaMelo Ball made his season debut in Saturday’s defeat. The 21-year-old point guard will help a struggling offense. He posted an average of 20.1 PPG last year and scored 15 on Saturday.

The Hornets are still playing without Gordon Hayward while Dennis Smith Jr. is questionable. Charlotte was 2-0 on the road but has now lost five straight road games. They are only averaging 108.7 points, landing them 26th. The defense has been decent, allowing an average of 114.7 points, positioning them 21st in the NBA.
