The Charlotte Hornets are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Houston Rockets Wednesday night as the calendar flips to November. Charlotte was knocked off 133-121 by Brooklyn at home Monday night in their previous contest, failing to cover the line as a two-point underdog. Houston fell 106-95 at home against Golden State in their previous contest Monday night, failing to cover the line as a seven-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Rockets own a 48-19 advantage. Last season, the teams split two meetings with Houston prevailing 112-109 on the road in the most recent contest April 7, 2023.

Charlotte won their season opener at home over Atlanta but dropped their next two games, to the Pistons and Nets, at home. The Hornets now head out on the road for the first time this season looking to even their record on the season as they come in 1-2 and tied for third in the Southeast Division, one game behind Orlando. Against Brooklyn, Charlotte trailed 17-4 less than three minutes into the game and never recovered. The Hornets trailed 42-23 after the opening quarter and didn’t get closer than seven the rest of the way. Charlotte shot 49% from the floor, including eight of 31 from three-point range, and allowed Brooklyn to shoot 56.3% in the game. Terry Rozier led the Hornets with 23 points and nine assists in the loss.

On the season, the Hornets are 14th in the league in scoring offense with 112 points per game. Charlotte is 20th in the league in rebounding as they collect 43.7 boards per contest and 3rd in assists with 29 dimes per contest. The Hornets are 24th in scoring defense as they allow an average of 118 points per game. Terry Rozier leads the Hornets in scoring with 22.7 points plus 3.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season. Gordon Hayward (14.7 points, 5.7 boards, 5.3 assists), LaMelo Ball (14.3 points, six rebounds, nine assists), P.J. Washington (17.7 points) and Brandon Miller (17.3 points, six rebounds) are solid contributors on the offensive end of the floor. Mark Williams (11 points, 8.3 rebounds), Theo Maledon, JT Thor and Nick Richards are looked at to provide rotational depth for the Hornets. Charlotte is 17th in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 45.6% from the field as a team. The Hornets are 30th in threes per game with 8.7 per contest and 30th in three-point field goal percentage by shooting 27.1% from beyond the arc.

Co dy Martin (knee) played just seven games last season and has been off the floor since January 14. He remains out with no timetable for return. Frank Ntilkina (leg) is out until late November after breaking his leg in preseason. James Bouknight (knee) had surgery and is expected to be out until mid-November at best. Miles Bridges continues to serve a suspension and is eligible to return to action on November 17 against Milwaukee.
