Charlotte decided to make some moves at the trade deadline to shake up its roster. With one of the worst records in the NBA, the Hornets will certainly be looking to continue their roster reshaping this offseason. The Hornets parted ways with starting center Mason Plumlee, shipping him off to the Clippers for guard Reggie Jackson. Jackson is expected to be bought out and will head to a contender. In addition, the Hornets shipped out forward Jalen McDaniels as part of a three-team deal with Portland and Philadelphia and received Svi Mykhailiuk in return. The Hornets come into this matchup with five straight losses, including a 118-104 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday night. The Hornets were led by P.J. Washington who had 20 points while Terry Rozier chipped in 19 points and LaMelo Ball dropped 16 points.

“We just didn’t come out in the third quarter with the same offensive purpose and energy, and Porzingi s obviously got going,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “We made two mistakes at the end of the first half, which led to two wide-open 3s for him and kind of got him going, which is what happens with a lot of primary scorers.”

The Hornets come into this matchup with the 25th ranked scoring offense in the NBA. They are 30th in 3pt field goal shooting as well. The Hornets are 9th in fewest turnovers per game in the league. Defensively, Charlotte has had issues as well. The Hornets are 28th in the NBA in scoring defense and 23rd in 3pt defense. On the glass, Charlotte ranks fifth in the NBA but they have parted with the team's best rebounder in Plumlee.

Key Injuries: The Hornets will be shorthanded on Friday night with Plumlee and McDaniels gone while F Cody Martin is questionable with a knee injury.
