The Charlotte Hornets travel to the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night.
The Charlotte Hornets kicked off their season with a big win, but they are now looking to bounce back after getting stomped by the Pelicans in a 124-112 loss on Friday. Gordon Hayward led the team with 26 points and seven assists, Terry Rozier added 23 points with eight rebounds and 11 assists while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and were always on the back foot after leaking 35 points in the first quarter. The Hornets got decent production out of their reserves who outscored the Pelicans’ bench, but there was no matching the Pelicans’ starters who were on a roll all night.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Magic in a 108-98 win on Friday. Trae Young led the team with 25 points and 13 assists, John Collins added 23 points with 13 rebounds and three assists while Dejounte Murray tallied 20 points with nine rebounds, nine assists and four steals. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they managed just 19 points in the first quarter to trail for most of the contest until they switched on in the fourth quarter where they held the Magic to just 17 points to pull away and win comfortably in the end.
