The Charlotte Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks do battle at the State Farm Arena on Saturday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in a major slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall, but they will be eager to stay hot in this one after putting a stop to a five-game slide with a 122-117 road win over the Rockets on Wednesday. Terry Rozier led the team with 26 and six assists, Mason Plumlee and Mark Williams each scored 17 points while PJ Washington chipped in with 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals. As a team, the Hornets shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before they dominated the second half by 69-57 to escape with the much-needed victory. LaMelo Ball had a night to forget as he scored just 13 points on four of 16 shooting in 20 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be gunning for a sixth straight victory after routing the Knicks in a 139-124 home win last night. Dejounte Murray led the team with 29 points and 12 assists, Trae Young added 27 points with six assists while DeAndre Hunter chipped in with 20 points on seven of 11 shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Knicks early on and leaked 71 points in the first half, but they stayed within striking distance and made their move in the fourth quarter where they outscored the Knicks by 37-23 to win easily in the end.
