Charleston is coming off an impressive 73-61 road win over Hofstra on Thursday night as a 1.5-point dog. They've now won six straight after losing at ranked FAU 90-74 on Dec. 2. In their win over the Pride, the Cougars were led by Bryce Butler, who had 18 points and five boards, while center Ante Brzovic added 13 points  (2-for-4 from 3pt). Stony Brook transfer Frankie Policelli added 11 points and seven boards.  Last season, Hofstra stunned the then-No. 18 Cougars 85-81, who were 21-1 at the time.

The Cougars won 31 games last season and they may not win that many this year, barring a long tournament run in the conference tournament and the NCAA's. But this is still a very good team that is finding its footing at the right time. Butler is a 6-5 grad transfer from West Liberty, another Division II player for the Cougars, who have had many of them in the last few seasons. He's averaging 8.7 points per game and 4.0 rebounds on 49.4% shooting (35% 3pt). Ben Burnham, a 6-7, 220-pound junior leads Charleston with 13.1 points and shoots 46.3% from the field and 36.2% from long range. Overall, the Cougars average 78.1 points per game on 41.7% shooting (302nd) and 31.1% from long range. Defensively, they are allowing 73.6 points per game on 43.4% shooting (32.3% 3pt).
