A pair of teams from the CAA take the floor in the First State looking to earn a conference victory. The Charleston Cougars are on the road as they make the trip up the east coast to take on the Delaware Blue Hens Saturday afternoon. Charleston was edged 70-69 on the road by Drexel in their previous game Thursday night, losing outright as a seven-point favorite. Delaware was beaten 70-62 on the road by Monmouth in their previous game Thursday night, losing outright as a nine-point favorite. In the all-time series between the programs, the Cougars own a 15-8 advantage, including a 75-64 home win in the first meeting this season on January 7.

Charleston was flying high heading into the week but two straight losses to Hofstra and Drexel has them reeling a bit. The Cougars fell to 21-3 overall and stand tied for the top spot in the CAA with a 9-2 mark, leaving them even with Hofstra. Against Drexel, Charleston used an 11-0 run to take a 29-17 lead with 4:38 to play in the first half before seeing the margin trimmed to eight at intermission. The Cougars led by as many as 12 in the second half, by 11 with 11:49 to play and by five with 2:19 to go before giving up the final six points of the game to take the loss. Charleston shot 41.9% from the field, including five of 23 from three-point range, and went 12 of 16 at the free throw line while Drexel hit 20 of 26 attempts. Dalton Bolon led the Cougars with 19 points in the loss.

The Cougars are putting up an average of 79.6 points per game, which is 30th in the country in scoring off ense, on the season. Charleston hauls down 40.3 rebounds per contest and dishes out 13.4 assists per game. The Cougars have been average on the defensive end of the floor, ranking 171st by allowing 68.9 points per game this year. Reyne Smith is second on the team with 10.9 points per contest this season. Dalton Bolon is leading the team in scoring as he puts up 13.2 points a game. Pat Robinson III (10 points), Jaylon Scott, Ben Burnham, Babacar Faye, Ante Brzovic (10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds), Raekwon Horton, Ryan Larson (10.7 points, 4.2 assists) and Charles Lampten are solid contributors for the Cougars. Charleston is hitting 43.2% from the floor this season as a team. The Cougars splash an average of 9.9 three-pointers a night while hitting 32.4% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Charleston has been good at the charity stripe, sinking 73.7% of their chances at the line this season, which is 98th in the nation.
