A pair of mid-major programs take the floor in search of a victory in a Mid-American Conference clash from the Buckeye State. The Central Michigan Chippewas are on the road as they make the trip to face the Bowling Green Falcons Tuesday night. Central Michigan enters this game off a 66-60 home win over Miami (OH), a game they won outright as a seven-point underdog Saturday. Bowling Green was drubbed 93-72 on the road by Ball State in their previous game Saturday, failing to cover as a nine-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs, the Falcons own a 41-40 advantage on the strength of their 83-61 road triumph in the first meeting this season January 24.

Central Michigan had dropped three straight and six of their previous seven games before upending Miami (OH) at home Saturday. The Chippewas boosted their mark to 9-16 overall and stand tied for eighth in the MAC with a 4-8 mark on the year. Against Miami (OH), Central Michigan trailed by as many as eight in the first half and by 14 with 13:58 remaining before making a run. The Chippewas were within one with 2:23 to play before tallying the game’s final seven points to earn the win. Central Michigan shot 42.6% from the field, including four of 10 from three-point range, and overcame missing 13 of their 35 free throw attempts in the game. Brian Taylor led the way with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win.

The Chippewas put up only 66.3 points per game this season, putting them a dismal 320th in the nation in scoring offense. Central Michigan collects 36.2 rebounds p er contest and dishes out an average of 11 assists per night. The Chippewas are below average on the defensive end of the floor as they are 231st in the nation by allowing 71.4 points per game. Kevin Miller leads the team with 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds a night this season. He’s played just four games and has been out of the mix since November 23 with a lower-body injury. Jesse Zarzuela (16.3 points) and Brian Taylor (14.8 points, 6.4 rebounds) are solid secondary scoring options for coach Tony Barbee. Reggie Bass, Markus Harding, Carrington McCaskill, Miroslav Stafl, Max Majerle, Nicolas Pavrette and Ola Ajiboye are key contributors for the Chippewas. Central Michigan is shooting 41.6% from the field as a team this season. The Chippewas are knocking down 6.2 threes a night while shooting 29.5% from beyond the arc. Central Michigan does a horrendous job at the charity stripe as they convert 68.2% of their chances at the line this season.
