Central Michigan at Oklahoma State – 9/1/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Central Michigan Chippewas and Oklahoma State Cowboys face off on Thursday in a Week 1 college football showdown at Boone Pickens Stadium.

The Central Michigan Chippewas had a strong 2021 season finishing with a 9-4 record and that included a win over Washington State in the Sun Bowl. On offense, Central Michigan gets a lot of talent back including quarterback Daniel Richardson and Lew Nicholls III. Richardson threw for 2633 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Nichols also rushed for 1848 yards and 16 touchdowns. In this game the Chippewas are going to need to try and establish the run game early, and not be forced to be one-dimensional. On defense, the Chippewas have lost a ton of talent, and some of the young guys are going to be thrown into the fire early.

On the other side of this matchup is Oklahoma State who finished last season with a 12-2 record overall and they went 8-1 in the Big 12. Unde center again this season for the Cowboys is Spencer Sanders and he was strong last year. Sanders completed 243 of his 391 passes for 2.839 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Top receiver Tay Martin isn’t with the team anymore, but the next four guys will be back. On defense, the Cowboys were top five in all of college football, and the hope is that will be the same this season. Defensive coordinator Derek Mason is new to the team, but he has most of his key players back from last season.
