The Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers collide at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to stay hot after blowing past the lowly Pistons in a 127-109 home win last Wednesday. In the absence of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum carried the team with 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists on 15 of 24 shooting, Malcolm Brogdon added 25 points and six assists off the bench while Al Horford chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 53 percent from the field and a sizzling 21 of 45 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 66 points in the first half, before finishing with a flurry in the fourth quarter to make it look easy despite being shorthanded.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in rough shape as they’ve lost nine of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after snapping a five-game slide wit a 117-113 win over the Bulls last Wednesday. Buddy Hield led the team with 27 points on eight of 12 shooting, Aaron Nesmith added 21 points while Myles Turner chipped in with 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Pacers shot 47 percent from the field and 18 of 43 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and got outscored by 39-15 in the first quarter, before they flipped the switch and dominated the rest of the game to escape with their best comeback of the season.
