This Sunday, the (1-4) Carolina Panthers and the (2-3) Los Angeles Rams will match up in the sixth week of the 2022 NFL regular season. Kickoff will be at 4:05 PM EST inside SoFi Stadium. Neither of these teams has started this regular season how they would like, but there is still plenty of time to turn this year around. Both of these teams suffered a loss in week 5.

The Carolina Panthers are coming into this one after falling to the San Francisco 49ers. They fired their head coach Matt Rhule after that loss. Baker Mayfield was also injured, as he won't be starting in this game either. Steve Wilks will be the interim head coach and P.J. Walker will start at quarterback.

The Los Angeles Rams are entering this one after falling to the Dallas Cowboys 22-10. The Rams have struggled to consistently move the ball down the field, as they aren't scoring enough points to stay competitive in thes e games. Their offensive line will have to be better if they want a shot at winning this one.

The Carolina Panthers have only won one game to start this season, but they are currently hitting the reset button. They fired their head coach Matt Rhule after Sunday's loss and they will also be without Baker Mayfield in this game. On offense, they are scoring 18.6 points per game and they are averaging 271.4 yards. This is the 24th most points scored and the least amount of yards. They have struggled to string together first downs and consistently move the ball, as this has made it much more difficult to score. Carolina has struggled to move the ball through the air, as Mayfield had multiple problems through the first five weeks of the season. The Panthers are only averaging 181.6 passing yards per game, which is the 28th most in the NFL. They are also only running for 89.8 yards, which is the 27th most. Watch for Christian McCaffrey out of the backfield, as he currently leads the team with 324 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He is also averaging 4.5 yards per carry. I wouldn't be surprised if he was more involved in the passing game, as well. I would also expect P.J. Walker to start at quarterback in this game. In 2021, he threw for 362 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in five games played.

On defense, the Panthers have been up and down. Their poor offensive play has put a ton of pressure on their defense this season, as they are spending the majority of the time on the field. They are also allowing 24.4 points per game and 356.2 total yards, which is the 21st most points given up and the 20th most yards. They have struggled to stop the run, as they are allowing 137.8 rushing yards per game. Last week, they surrendered 244 rushing yards to the Niners, as they continued to attack them on the ground. Luckily, they have been better against the pass. They are only allowing 218.4 passing yards, which is the 17th most yards allowed per game. I would also watch for Shaq Thompson in this one, as he leads the team with 34 tackles this season. He has been all over the field for the Panthers to begin this season.

Injury Report: The Panthers could possibly be without WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (Hamstring) and CB CJ Henderson (Knee).
