Carolina Hurricanes (1-0-0) vs. San Jose Sharks (0-2-0)

The Carolina Hurricanes start a five-game road trip on the west coast Friday, October 14, with the non-conference clash against the San Jose Sharks. The Canes head to SAP Center at San Jose as firm -193 moneyline favorites, while the totals opened at 6.0 goals.

Last season, Carolina and San Jose split their two-game series, and each team emerged victorious at home. The Hurricanes beat the Sharks 2-1 as -280 favorites but lost 2-1 in overtime as -160 favorites in California.

The Carolina Hurricanes opened the 2022-23 season on a high note, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 as heavy -280 home favorites. The Canes overcame an early second-period deficit and finished with 43 shots toward Daniil Tarasov. Four guys found the back of the net including Martin Necas, who also had a couple of assists.

“The third period we started looking a little more like how we want to do it,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “The good news for me is we got the win, but we’ve got a ton to work on.”
