Carolina Hurricanes (14-6-6) vs. New York Islanders (16-11-0)

The 2022-23 NHL betting action continues Saturday with this Eastern Conference battle when the Carolina Hurricanes travel to take on the New York Islanders at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.

This Metropolitan Division battle pits two teams separated by just two points in the standings. Carolina is on a roll, seeing their four-game winning streak come to an and with a 4-3 loss to Anaheim on Tuesday, but they are 4-0-1 in their last five. The Islanders closed out their three-game homestand with a 7-4 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday, going 1-2-0.

The Carolina Hurricanes (14-6-6, 11-15 ATS) saw their four-game winning streak come to an end when they fell to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, losing in overtime, 4-3. Three times Carolina battled back from one-goal deficits in this contest, forcing overtime before losing just before the two-minute mark of the extra session. This is the fourth of a five-game road trip that has seen the club go 2-0-1 through the first three contests and they are 4-0-4 in their last eight road games.

“At least we came back,” said head coach Rod Brind'Amour. “We got back into the game, had a good second period, and then you could see how exhausted we were there in the third. We had no jump.”

Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov had his toughest performance since November 21, allowing four goals on 30 shots. He has held opponents to two goals or fewer in six of his 10 appearances. The Hurricanes are seventh in goals allowed per game (2.81) but are struggling offensively, 25th overall at 2.89 goals per game. They have held opponents to 21 goals in their last eight road contests.
