The Carolina Hurricanes (15-6-6, 12-15 PL, 10-16 O/U) battle the Detroit Red Wings (13-8-4-2, 13-13 PL, 11-14 O/U) in an Eastern Conference bout on Tuesday night. The Hurricanes posted a solid road win against the Islanders on Saturday. The Red Wings dropped a road decision against the Stars in their previous action. Detroit went 2-1 against Carolina last year.

The Carolina Hurricanes conclude a lengthy six-game road trip in this one. They are having a successful trek, posting a 4-0-1 record through five games. They lost a 4-3 decision in OT against the Ducks and countered with a solid 3-0 road win against a good Islanders squad on Saturday. The Canes have gone to overtime in six of their last ten games, winning five games in that span.

Martin Necas is one of the more underrated players in the entire NHL. The 23-year-old center has earned five points in his last six clashes. Necas has taken the team lead in points, collecting 29 points and a plus-five rating. Sebastian Aho did not play in Saturday’s win due to a lower-body injury and is questionable. The 25-year-old center has 11 goals along with 16 assists on the season. Andrei Svechnikov has cooled down a bit, recording two points in his last four games. The crafty winger leads the squad with 15 goals and has added 11 assists.

The Hurricanes are awarding many of the recent starts in goal to Pyotr Kochetkov. The young keeper has been stellar, posting a 2.21 GAA and a .918 save % while Antti Raanta has filed a 2.62 GAA and an .894 save %. Carolina is scoring an average of 2.9 goals, landing them 26th. They are conceding an average of only 2.7 goals, good for sixth in the NHL.
