The Carolina Hurricanes (14-9-1, 9-15 PL, 12-12 O/U) battle the Calgary Flames (10-12-0-3, 10-14 PL, 15-8-2 O/U) in an inter-conference showdown on Thursday evening. The Hurricanes lost a road bout against the Jets on Monday and play in Edmonton on Wednesday. The Flames were dealt a home loss against the Wild on Tuesday evening. Each squad earned a win in last year's two meetings.

The Carolina Hurricanes are on a challenging road trek. They were 3-0-1 in their last four games but were dealt a narrow 2-1 road loss by the Jets on Monday to begin one of their longest road treks of the season. Carolina has not been nearly as dangerous on the road where they are one game below .500 on the season entering Wednesday’s game in Edmonton. They stand 2nd in the Metro.

Sebastian Aho continues to produce, netting three goals in his last three games. The 26-year-old center leads the squad with 22 points in 20 games on the season. Aho had one goal in two meetings against the Flames last season. Seth Jarvis has collected four points in his last five clashes. The 21-year-old center had 39 points last year and is on his way to surpassing that number, recording 19 points on the year. Martin Necas is in a groove, amassing four points in his last three bouts. The 24-year-old center has is sued 18 points but has a -8 rating.

The Hurricanes had Antti Raanta guard the cage on Monday. The 34-year-old netminder has a subpar 3.33 GAA and an .859 save % to go with a 6-4 record. #1 goalie Frederik Andersen is on the IR. Pyotr Kochetkov could get the start. The young goalie has recorded a solid 2.83 GAA but has a weak .881 save % accompanied by a 4-4-1 record.

Carolina is scoring an average of 3.4 goals per game, ranking them eighth. They are conceding an average of 3.2 goals, placing them 18th.
