The Carolina Hurricanes (50-19-9 SU, 1st in Metropolitan Division) make the trip to New York to take on the Buffalo Sabres (35-33-10 SU, 7th in Atlantic Division) on Saturday at the KeyBank Center.
The Hurricanes have won two of the past three games versus Buffalo, including a 5-1 victory on the road in February. Right winger Stefan Noesen had a goal and an assist for Carolina and goalie Antti Raanta turned away all but one of Buffalo’s 30 shots on net for the win. Carolina jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first period and never looked back. Carolina scored once in their two power play opportunities and Buffalo was shut out in their four chances.
Carolina has won three of their last four games overall and are 1-2 in their last three games on the road. Buffalo has won three of their last four games overall as well and are 2-1 in their last thre e games at the KeyBank Center.

Carolina saw their three game winning streak come to an end when they were shutout by the Nashville Predators (40-30-8 SU, 5th in Central Division) 3-0 on Thursday night. The Predators kept their playoff hopes alive with the win. Goalie Juuse Saros turned away all 33 of Carolina’s shots on net to earn the win. Center Mark Jankowski had a goal and an assist in the first period for the Hurricanes. Nashville had 26 blocked shots in the game versus only three for Carolina.
Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour on the loss:
“How many more chances are we going to get? You know, we’re right in front of him the first and second period. You got to bury one. Then we did and got the goalie interference thing, and that was really the kind of the way the night went for us.”

Carolina’s offense ranks 15th in goals per game (3.2) and 31st in shooting percentage (8.4%). The defense ranks high in the NHL in goals allowed per game (2.38, 2nd place) and 12th in save percentage (90.3%).
