The Hurricanes are off to a great start led by an offense that has scored 10 goals in their first two games. Jordan Staal, Michael Bunting, and Teuvo Teravainen have combined for four goals and an assist but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Sebastian Aho, Jesper Fast, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi have combined for two goals and four assists while defensemen Jaccob Slavin and Brady Skjei have added two goals and three assists from the point to open up the offense.
The offense has been great but the defense hopes to improve, allowing eight goals in two games to start the season. Jaccob Slavin and Brent Burns lead the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net. In addition, goaltender Antti Raanta looks to step up as he makes his season debut in the upcoming game after a strong season where he had a .910 save percentage and a 2.23 goals -against average on 644 shots.
