The California Golden Bears (2-1, 2-1 ATS, 1-2 O/U) meet with the Washington Huskies (3-0, 2-0-1 ATS, 1-2 O/U) in a conference battle on Saturday night. The Golden Bears posted a home win against Idaho last week. The Huskies easily defeated Michigan State to remain unbeaten on the young season. Washington recorded a 28-21 road win against California last season.

The California Golden Bears head into the conference opener with a 2-1 record. The squad was dominant in the opener, recording a 58-21 road win against North Texas to cover easily, and were competitive in a 14-10 home loss to Auburn in week two in a bout that had the Bears as five-point dogs. They rallied from a 17-0 deficit for a 31-17 home win against Idaho last week but didn’t cover the 15.5 spread. The Golden Bears only won two conference games last year and were selected to finish 9th in the preseason poll.

Sam Jackson V is the #1 QB this season. The sophomore was injured early in the opener and had some issues against Auburn, posting 126 passing yards and two picks. Jackson has 267 passing yards and a 3:2 TD to INT ratio. He is a great runner but only has 51 rushing yards in three games. The Bears also have Ben Finlay who played in the s eason opener but has seen limited action since. He has 329 passing yards with one TD against one pick.

The Bears are relying on the running game. They have a strong RB in Jaydn Ott. The sophomore RB led the squad with 897 rushing yards last season and has been dangerous, collecting 270 yards on an average of 6.8 yards per rush. Ott did not play on Saturday and is questionable.

Jeremiah Hunter is the most heavily targeted WR. The junior registered 965 yards last season and has 147 receiving yards after three bouts.. The Golden Bears offense was a weakness last season but after three games it appears to be improved. They are averaging 437 total yards per game.

The Golden Bears' defense has been a bright spot. They limited Auburn to only 230 total yards and overcame a bad start by shutting out Idaho in the second half last week. The group returns many key pieces on last year’s unit. This game will paint a better picture of how good this Bears defense can be. They stand 35th against the pass and 32nd against the run after three games.

California is averaging 33 points per game, ranking them 53rd. The defense is conceding an average of 17.3 points, good for 45th.
