California vs. Colorado Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-15-2022

Colorado will play its first game since firing head coach Karl Dorrell when it faces Cal in a Pac-12 matchup on Saturday afternoon. Dorrell was fired on Oct. 2 following an 0-5 start to the season, so interim coach Mike Sanford Jr. will be in charge of getting his team ready for this game. The Golden Bears have lost two of their last three games, including a 28-9 setback at Washington State their last time out.

Cal is seeking its first road win of the season, as its two losses this year have come away from home. The Golden Bears opened the year with wins over UC Davis and UNLV at home before nearly pulling off a huge upset at Notre Dame in Week 3. They bounced back with an impressive showing against Arizona, cruising to an 18-point win at home. Their offense was unable to match that performance the following week, as they were held to just nine points in a blowout loss at Washington State. They had the week off following that game, giving them extra time to prepare for this contest.

Senior quarterback Jack Plummer has thrown for at least 245 yards in four of his five games this season, including a 275-yard, three-touchdown showing against Arizona two games ago. He left the game against Washington State with a leg injury, but he is expected to play on Saturday. His top target has been junior wide receiver Jeremiah Hunter, who has 27 catches for 414 yards and two scores. Freshman running back Jaydn Ott has been the sparkplug of the offense, averaging 7.4 yards per carry on 72 attempts. He ran for 274 yards and three touchdowns against Arizona and set a career-high with seven receptions for 41 yards against Washington State. The Golden Bears have been a decent defensive team, holding all five of their opponents to 31 points or fewer.
