California at Washington – 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Cal Golden Bears and Washington Huskies face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at the Hec Edmundson Pavillion. When these two teams faced off in February it was Washington that secured the 84-63 victory.

Cal comes into this game with a 3-14 record and they have gone 7-10 against the spread. Cal had won two games in a row but in the last game against Washington State, they went back to the struggles and ended up losing. The offense only managed 51 points and they ended up losing by 15 points. California is averaging 60.9 points while their defense is giving up 66.6 points per game. The defense hasn’t been the issue, it’s been the offense not scoring enough points to really give the defense much of a chance. The best player for this team has been Devin Askew who is averaging 16.1 points while shooting 39.3 percent from the field. He is dealing with an undisclosed injury though and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go here.

On the other side of this matchup is Washington who sits with a 10-8 record overall and they have gone 9-8-1 against the spread. In the last game against Stanford, Washington scored 86 points, and that led to the 17 point victory. Washington is averaging 69.4 points while their defense is giving up 68.1 points per game. The offense at times has been inconsistent, but in the last game they were elite. I would expect in this game, Washington is going to try and push the pace. Keion Brooks is averaging 16.3 points while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 21.1 percent from behind the three point line.
