The Calgary Flames face the Ottawa Senators with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Flames have a 25-18-10 record and are in the middle of the Pacific Division while the Senators have a 24-24-3 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to improve in their divisions and the playoff picture and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Flames are having a promising season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.17 goals per game including seven goals in the last game. Tyler Toffoli, Elias Lindholm, and Nazem Kadri have scored 56 goals and 78 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Jonathan Huberdeau, Mikael Backlund, and Dillon Dube have combined for 33 goals and 66 assists while defensemen Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin have added 11 goals and 46 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has carried the Flames but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.98 goals per game. Andersson and Hanifin have combined for 6.5 defensive point shares and 173 blocked shots while Nikita Zadorov, MacKenzie Weegar, and Chris Tanev have combined for 7.4 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. The hope is that goaltender Jacob Markstrom can step up as he is h aving a rough season with a .892 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average on 909 shots with -12.4 goals saved above average.
