Week 11 of the 2022-23 NCAA men’s basketball season starts Monday, January 16, so we are breaking down the Big West Conference showdown between the Cal State Northridge Matadors and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. 

Cal State Northridge heads to Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a huge 16.5-point underdog. The totals are listed at 125.0 points, and the total has gone over in nine consecutive encounters between the Matadors and Rainbow Warriors. 

The Cal State Northridge Matadors (3-14; 5-9 ATS; 0-6 conf.) extended their losing streak to six games this past Saturday, suffering a 71-57 home defeat against UC Irvine. It was their sixth consecutive ATS loss, too, as the Matadors failed to cover a 10.5-point spread. 

CSUN made just 34.8% of its field goals against the Anteaters. The Matadors posted an 11/13 assist-to-turnover ratio and allowed UC Irvine to shoot 52.8% from the field. Junior guard De’Sean Allen-Eikens led the Matadors with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a couple of blocks, while sophomore guard Atin Wright had 14 points and three boards. 

The Matadors are No. 345 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 335 in the KenPom rankings. They’ve been awful on both sides of the ball so far this season, tallying 95.7 points per 100 possessions (331st in the nation) and surrendering 110.3 points in return (306th). The Matadors make just 45.6% of their 2-pointers (336th) and 31.3% of their triples (307th) while handing out 10.4 assists per contest (353rd).
