The fourth-seeded Cal State Fullerton Titans will challenge the top-seeded UC Irvine Anteaters in the semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament on Friday night inside of the Dollar Loan Center. The Titans are 19-12 (12-6) right now and are coming off a quarterfinal victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 62-60 in overtime on Thursday. The Anteaters are 23-10 (15-5) right now and picked up a 75-51 win in the quarterfinals on Thursday against the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. The winner will advance to the finals and be one step closer to a NCAA Tournament berth.
The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners are coming off a 62-60 quarterfinal victory over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors last time out. They shot the ball terribly as they were just 23-of-65 (35.4 percent) overall, 5-of-19 (26.3 percent) from the three, and 18 free-throw attempts. Junior guard Max Jones led the team as in 41 minutes he finished with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Defensively, they were electric as they allowed 38.2 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from deep here. The Roadrunners did well as they finished with 11 steals and four blocks throughout the game.
The Cal State Fullerton Titans are struggling this season offensively as they are 243rd in the nation with 69.2 points per game thus far and shooting a less than ideal 43 perc ent from the floor and are averaging 10.5 assists per game.
