BYU at St. Mary's – 2/18/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The BYU Cougars will head out to Moraga to meet the Saint Mary’s Gaels in WCC play from The Pavilion on ESPNU. This may mark the final time these two schools face off for a while with BYU moving on to the Big 12 next season, and the head-to-head series is tied at 18 after St. Mary’s won the latest meeting in Provo by a point last month.

BYU dropped to 16-13 after losing to Santa Clara at home. The Cougars fell down to the Broncos big at break, and after failing to rally back they fell by seven points, 81-74. BYU scores 75.6 points per game, while allowing 70.1 ppg, and shooting 45.3% from the field.

BYU’s inconsistent play may have finally caught up to them, and at 16-13 in a stacked year across the country, they won’t be returning to the Big Dance in their final season  in the West Coast Conference. The Cougars are 6-9 in WCC play, with a 2-7 road record. The Cougars have played through the inside-outside duo of Rudi Williams and Fousseyini Traore, and it’s delivered mixed results. Fousseyini Traore has posted double-doubles in three of the last five games, and he leads the team in scoring (12.9) and rebounding (7.9). Williams scored a team-high 20 points against Santa Clara last time out, and he’s now averaging 12.4 ppg.
