The Buffalo Sabres face the Philadelphia Flyers with both teams looking to snap out of slumps and rebound in the Eastern Conference. The Sabres have a 33-28-6 record and are in the wild card race but have lost five of their last six games. The Flyers have a 24-32-11 record and with four losses in a row have the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are looking to rebound from their current skids and the upcoming game looks to be a good one.

The Sabres are having a rocky season with their offense looking like one of the best in the NHL, scoring 3.66 goals per game including eight goals in the last two games. Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and Alex Tuch have scored 101 goals and 117 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Dylan Cozens, Casey Mittelstadt, and Victor Olofsson have combined for 60 goals and 70 assists while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added 18 goals and 72 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.61 goals per game with 20 goals in the last four games. Dahlin and Power have combined for 6.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has struggled with a .894 save percentage and a 3.55 goals-against average on 950 shots with -10.5 goals saved above average.
