The Buffalo Sabres are on the road as they make the trip to face the Florida Panthers Tuesday night. Buffalo comes in off a 6-3 road win over Philadelphia in their previous contest Saturday night. Florida blew out Columbus by a 7-0 count on the road in their most recent game Saturday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Panthers own a 6-3-1 advantage though it was the Sabres earning a 3-1 road win in the most recent matchup February 24.

Buffalo won their second straight and their fourth in the last five games as they doubled up the Flyers in the City of Brotherly Love Saturday night. The Sabres entered Monday fifth in the Atlantic Division with a 37-31-7 mark, 44 points behind the Bruins for the top spot. They stood 15 points behind the Lightning for the final guaranteed spot in the Atlantic Division. In the wild card race, the Sabres were five points behind the Penguins for the second wild card spot though they had two games in hand. For the season, Buffalo is 3rd in offense as they are averaging 3.59 goals per game on the season. The Sabres are 26th in the league in goals against as they allow 3.64 goals per contest this year. Buffalo is 7th in power play success as they cash in 23.8% of their chances with the man advantage. The Sabres are 28th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully get through 73.2% of their sho rthanded situations on the year.
Against Philadelphia, Buffalo played two strong periods and survived a sputtering third period to earn the win. The Sabres were outshot 14-5 in the opening period but managed to reach the first intermission tied at one. After falling behind 1-0, Kyle Okposo evened the score with his 11th goal of the season at 19:50 off assists from Peyton Krebs and Mattias Samuelsson. In the second period, the shots were even at 17 but Buffalo enjoyed a 4-1 bulge on the scoreboard to open a 5-2 lead after two periods. Alex Tuch gave Buffalo a 2-1 lead with his 33rd goal of the year at 1:25 off an assist from Casey Mittelstadt. Just 1:15 later, at the 2:40 mark, Jordan Greenway made it a 3-1 game with his fifth goal of the season off assists from Tyson Jost and Rasmus Dahlin. Only 1:06 after that marker, Jeff Skinner extended to a 4-1 advantage with his 33rd goal at 3:46 with assists going to M ittelstadt and Owen Power. Tuch added his second of the night and 34th of the season at 16:02 with Mittelstadt and Skinner drawing the assists for a 5-1 lead. Buffalo gave up a goal 22 seconds later to make it a 5-2 game. In the third period, Buffalo was outshot 11-7 with each team scoring once to earn the win. After giving up a goal to make it a 5-3 game, Tuch finished the scoring with his third goal of the game and 35th of the season to cap his hat trick with a shorthanded goal at 16:02 with Jack Quinn drawing the assist. Ukko-Pekka Luokkonen made 39 saves for the Sabres, who were outshot 42-29, in the win. Devon Levi could be in line to make his second NHL start in this contest.
