Browns 2022 NFL futures odds: Deshaun Watson reportedly looking at suspension of 2-8 games

Many Cleveland Browns futures remain off the board at Caesars and other sportsbooks because the oddsmakers aren't sure what length of suspension that new starting quarterback Deshaun Watson is looking at. Reportedly, the NFL has requested at least a full season, but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk today wrote that sources have indicated Watson is looking at between 2-8 games from Judge Sue L. Robinson, the league and NFLPA's independent arbitrator in his case. The NFL could appeal any decision as could Watson.

Florio also wrot e that one of the strongest arguments on Watson's behalf comes from the language of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy: “Ownership and club or league management have traditionally been held to a higher standard and will be subject to more significant discipline.”

At the hearing, the NFL Players' Association focused on owners who either weren't punished at all or whose punishments require a player like Watson to receive a lesser sanction.

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson tweeted today:'”I'm told as part of its post-hearing brief, the NFL essentially argued the declaration in its own Personal Conduct Policy that owners 'will be subject to more significant discipline' is an irrelevant point to the Deshaun Watson proceeding at hand, per league source.” She added that “I'm also told–as of this morning–Sue Robinson has provided no indication her decision is coming this week.”
