The New York Knicks play host to the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Bucks in a 118-104 loss last night. Mikal Bridges led the team with 31 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Spencer Dinwiddie added 26 points with eight assists while Cam Johnson chipped in with 19 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Nets shot 43 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early 18-point lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and got outscored by 66-42 in the second half to allow the Bucks to win big in the end.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in red-hot form as they’ve won eight of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a seventh straight victory after blowing past the Celtics in a 109-94 win on Monday. Julius Randle led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Immanuel Quickley added 23 points off the bench while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their effort on the defensive end as they were always in control after restricting the Celtics to just 15 points in the first quarter.
