The 10th-seeded Boston College Eagles try to extend their season at least one more day as they take on the 7th-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels Wednesday night. Boston College cruised past 15th-seeded Louisville 80-62 in their first-round contest Tuesday afternoon to advance to this matchup, covering the line as a six-point favorite. North Carolina was upended 62-57 at home by Duke in their regular season finale Saturday, losing outright as a four-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Tar Heels own a 21-6 advantage and have won the last three meetings. That includes a 72-64 home win in the most recent matchup on January 17.

Boston College won for the fourth time in five games as they cruised past Louisville in the first round of the tournament to advance to this contest. The Eagles ran their record to 16-16 overall after finishing 9-11 in the regular season in conference play. Against Louisville, Boston College led by as many as 10 in the first half before giving up a 19-6 run over the final six minutes to trail by three at intermission. The Eagles led by just one with 11:35 to play before outscoring the Cardinals 31-14 the rest of the way to earn the victory. Boston College shot 46.8% from the field, including five of 19 from three-point range, and won the rebounding battle 41-29 in the game. Makai Ashton-Langford led the Eagles with 16 points and five rebounds in the win.

Langford Jr. (illness) last played against Virginia on February 22 b ut returned to play Tuesday against Louisville. Post (ankle) logged just three minutes against Georgia Tech Saturday before leaving the game for good. He didn’t play Tuesday against the Cardinals. He is considered questionable so watch for updates on his status before tip-off.
