Boston College vs. NC State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-12-2022

Boston College will try to snap its four-game losing streak when it travels to No. 16 NC State on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were competitive last week before falling to Duke in a 38-31 final. NC State has won two consecutive games since losing to Syracuse, including a win over then-No. 21 Wake Forest last week.

Boston College is heading down the stretch of what has been a disappointing season for the program. The Eagles have only picked up two wins this season, with one of them coming against Maine in September. Their lone conference victory came against Louisville on Oct. 1, but they have lost four straight games since then. Two of those four setbacks have come against top-15 teams, while the most recent losses were against Connecticut and Duke. The Eagles were 7.5-point favorites against the Huskies and were 11.5-point underdogs against the Blue Devils. They played without veteran quarterback Phil Jurkovec against Duke due to a knee injury.

Jurkovec also missed practice early this week, so redshirt freshman Emmett Morehead may make his second straight start. Morehead had an impressive debut, completing 27 of 45 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns. It was just the third time this season that Boston College had scored more than 21 points in a game, giving the coaching staff another reason to start the youngster on Saturday. The top player offensively has been wide receiver Zay Flowers, who leads the ACC in receiving yards (791) and has an ACC co-leading eight touchdowns. The rushing attack has been lacking, as Pat Garwo III leads the way with just 302 yards, averaging 3.2 yards per carry.
