The Louisville Cardinals play host to the Boston College Eagles in an ACC showdown from L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals are off to a quick start, sitting at 3-0, though they'll want to make sure they grab another ACC win. For the Eagles, there are massive concerns surrounding the state of their program, as they eye the upset in this one. BC shocked Louisville last season and are 6-3 ATS in the last nine meetings between these two, while the Cardinals are 5-4 overall. This one looks to be in hand for the Cardinals but non-conference matchups always find a way to be interesting.

Boston College started the season rough, dropping a home game to Northern Illinois, which many feared would set the tone for the season. A single-digit win across Holy Cross didn't do a lot to change thinking, though staying close to Florida State last week may have shown that this staff has found something. This matchup against the Cardinals is one that the Eagles have played well in over the last few years and after grabbing a win last year, will be looking to carry some of that momentum over into this one. The schedule eases up quite after this one, with a home game against Virginia and back-to-back road games against Army and Georgia Tech. If they can grab a winner in the ACC opener, it could set the tone for a winning streak.

As the Eagles prep to hit the road in this one, they have a pair of running back injuries that they continue to navigate. Alex Broome (undisclosed) and Pat Gar wo III (leg) both missed the last game but with Garwo expected to be the starter, the Eagles will be thrilled if they can have him back.

The offense hasn't been terrible but certainly has room for improvement, especially in the ground game where they have made waves over the last handful of years. Since being named starter at quarterback, Thomas Castellanos has helped improve this group, especially with his legs, where he sits as the the team's leading rusher. He have five touchdowns compared to only two interceptions and with more experience, can lead a capable offense. The wide receiver room has shown promise as well but going on the road for the first time this season could disrupt things early and often.

The Eagles will need to find a way to be far more impressive on the defensive end, as allowing 28 points to Holy Cross and 27 points to Northern Illinois, doesn't set a strong tone going forward. They looked better last w eek against the Seminoles but still rank outside the top 100 in a number of defensive categories. Holding up against the rush remains the biggest concern, while the linebacker core remains the heart of this defense. Vinny DePalma (28 tackles) and Kam Arnold (22 tackles) are the top dogs, but with only two sacks on the season, all eyes turn to the defensive line as well.
