The Boston Celtics had a brief scare last week as they slipped into the third spot in the Eastern Conference standings behind both Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Boston now has seven wins in its last ten games and three straight since welcoming back Robert Williams III into the lineup. On Sunday night, the Celtics trounced visiting San Antonio 137-93 behind 41 points from Jaylen Brown. Brown also added 13 rebounds as he picked up the slack for all-star teammate Jayson Tatum, who missed the game with a sore hip. Malcolm Brogdon had 20 points and nine assists and Derrick White chipped in with 19 points and eight rebounds. With the win, Boston moves to within 1 1/2 games behind Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee.

The Celtics still have a shot at the #1 overall seed in the NBA with seven games to go and trailing Milwaukee by a game and a half. Boston still has a game left with Milwaukee as well as another matchup with third-place Philadelphia before the season ends. The return of Williams to the lineup has certainly improved the Celtics defense overall. Since his return, Boston has held two of the three teams they played under 100 points. The one team that scored over 100 points, Sacramento, scored 12 points under its season average. Boston is once again resembling the suffocating defense that led the Celtics to the finals last season.

Key Injuries: Jayson Tatum (hip) and Payton Pritchard (heel) are both day-to-day.
