After starting the season at 5-0, the Celtics dropped two straight games including one to the Philadelphia 76ers. Since then the Celtics have reeled off three straight games including a 114-98 win over the Knicks at home on Monday night. The Celtics struggled to find their shot early but came alive in the fourth quarter. Jayson Tatum led the way with 35 points, including 17 points in the fourth quarter as the Celtics took a three-point lead and turned it into a 16-point victory. Jaylen Brown added 22 points and Kristaps Porzingas chipped in with 21 points in the team's second win over the Knicks this season.
“I’ve played enough games, had enough tough shooting nights,” said Tatum, who finished 13 for 23 in the game after going 6 for 8 in the fourth quarter. ”All really, really good scorers know it just takes one to change your momentum, change how you feel about yourself shooting the ba ll. And once you see one go in, you just feel a lot better about yourself.”
The Celtics hope to make it four straight wins and avenge their earlier loss to the Sixers on Wednesday night. The Celtics come in with the the league's most efficient starting five. Boston is tops in the NBA in +/- with their starting five this season. Tatum is averaging over 30 points per game in what looks like a potential MVP season and Porzingas has given the Celtics added length to protect the rim and an inside/outside force on the offensive end. Boston is shooting 37% from 3-point range this season.
Key Injuries: Brown (illness) and Porzingas (knee) are both listed as questionable for Wednesday night.
