It’s a battle of Eastern Conference teams on the hardwood as a pair of teams that have gotten off to strong starts battle in the Sunshine State with a Black Friday matinee contest. The Boston Celtics are on the road as they travel to face the Orlando Magic Friday afternoon. Boston earned a 119-116 home win over Milwaukee in their previous game Wednesday night, though they failed to cover the line as a six-point favorite. Orlando upended Denver 124-119 at home Wednesday night in the second game of a back-to-back set, winning outright as a three-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Celtics own a 73-54 advantage but the Magic have taken the last three meetings, including a 113-98 home win in the most recent matchup on January 23, 2023.

Boston bounced back from a loss to Charlotte on the road as they held off Milwaukee at home Wednesday night in their previous contest. The Celtics improved to 12-3 on the season and held a two-game lead over Philadelphia in the Atlantic Division race. Against Milwaukee, Boston scored the game’s first 10 points to get off to a solid start: they led by 12 after the opening quarter, by as many as 21 in the second quarter, by 14 at the half and by 15 after three quarters. The Celtics led by 20 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter only to see the Bucks storm back within three on a couple of occasions in the final minute though they held on for the win. Boston shot 52.4% from the field, including 17 of 42 from three-point range, and held Milwaukee to 44.6% shooting in the game. Jaylen Brown led seven Celtics in double figures with 26 points and eight assists in the win.

For the season, the C eltics are 8th in the league in scoring offense with an average of 117.3 points per game. Boston is 3rd in the league in rebounding with 47.1 boards per contest while they stand 23rd in assists by handing out 24.7 assists per game.
