Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-6-2023

Boston will play its third game in four days when it travels to Cleveland on Monday night. The Celtics played against New York on Sunday night, but this story was published prior to that game. Cleveland has win two of its last three games, blowing out Detroit in a 114-90 final on Saturday.

Boston will be on the back end of a back-to-back on Monday night after hosting New York in another Eastern Conference battle on Sunday night. The Celtics had won nine of 11 games before losing two of their last three, falling to the Knicks last Monday and Brooklyn on Friday. This is an immediate rematch of when these teams played last Wednesday, with Boston escaping in a 117-113 final. The Celtics were paced by 41 points from Jayson Tatum, who also had 11 rebounds and eight assists. They were unable to build on that performance, getting upset by Brooklyn as 10-point favorites on Friday night.

It was one of their worst showings of the season, as they blew a 28-point lead and scored just 41 points in the second half. The Celtics are battling for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, entering Sunday night’s slate a half-game back of Milwaukee in the standings. They are also 3.5 games ahead of Philadelphia and 7.5 games ahead of New York in the Atlantic Division. Center Robert Williams left the court in the third quarter and did not return, getting held out of Sunday’s game as well. He is set to miss 7-10 days, so he will be out on Monday. Malcolm Brogdon also missed Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury and is questionable for this contest. The Celtics rank fourth in the NBA in scoring (117.5) and are facing a Cleveland defense that leads the league (106.4).
