The Celtics' slogan for the past few years has been 'C Us Rise' as the team's young lineup continued to develop. Last season, the team rose all the way to the NBA Finals and, if early indications mean anything, they have the look of a team that wants to exceed that this season. The C's opened the season with a win over Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia by shooting 53% from the field and scoring 127 points. They followed that up with 111 points and 51% shooting over Miami, the team they defeated in the Eastern Conference final. On Saturday night, the Celtics took down a feisty, young Magic squad 126-120. Boston was led by Jayson Tatum, who poured in 40 points and had eight rebounds as part of a Celtics team that shot 41% from 3pt range. Derrick White chipped in with 27 points, two off his career-high, but the story continues to be Tatum. He has scored 104 points in three games already this season.

< p>“I mean, it’s early but (the MVP) has always been a goal of mine,” Tatum acknowledged. “When I was a kid, getting into the NBA wasn’t all I wanted to do. I wanted to be a champion, reach all those accolades and accomplishments, and MVP is obviously at the top of that list.”

Boston's fast start has to be a welcome sign for team management after a tough offseason. The team looks focused and has shown more offensive punch than they did last season. They are moving the ball crisply and have put a newfound emphasis on the fast break. The results have been a scoring average in the 120s in the early going. The team is shooting 52% from the floor overall while hitting 39% of their 3pt shots.

Key Injuries: Robert Williams III remains out and will likely not return til after the holidays. F/C Al Horford sat out the back end of the back-to-back set on Saturday but should be ready to go on Monday night.
