After storming through the regular season last year and setting a new record for points in a season, the Boston Bruins have started off this season a perfect 3-0 following a 3-1 win over San Jose on Thursday night in their first road game of the season. Brad Marchand and James van Riemsdyk scored less than a minute apart toward the end of the first period and David Pastrnak scored his team-leading fourth goal in the second period to lead Boston to victory. Goalie Linus Ullmark remained perfect on the season with 26 saves as the B's kicked off a four-game trip with a win.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to get on a little bit of a roll,” van Riemsdyk said. “We have a lot of kind of games in a short span and I think that’s good this time of year to kind of get in the rhythm of our playing games and going from there.”

The Bruins fini shed last season as the top goal scoring team in the NHL and with the league's best save percentage. After losing their top two centers to retirement this offseason, most didn't expect anywhere near that output on offense or defense. Thus far, The Bruins have scored just three goals in each of the first three games but their defense remains effective. The Bruins seem determined to continue equally playing goalies Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman in an every other game rotation as they did for much of last season. So far, so good as Ullmark is 2-0 and allowed just two goals in his two games while Swayman won his first appearance in a 3-2 win over the Predators. Expect Swayman to get the nod in net against the Kings on Saturday and don't expect much of a dropoff for the Bruins.
