The Boston Bruins started off the 2022-23 season as the hottest team in the NHL and went on to set a record for most points in a regular season in NHL history. It seems as though Boston has picked up right where they left off despite a major roster overhaul this season. The Bruins improved to 5-0 on the season on Sunday night following a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on the road. One of the newest Bruins, 19-year-old Matthew Poitras, scored the first two goals of his career to help the Bruins roll to another win. Brad Marchand added an empty-net goal while goalie Linus Ullmark turned away 32-of-33 shots in the win.
“It was a good win and we just kind of stayed together and stuck with it,” Poitras said. “It was maybe not our best, but we were able to get the job done.”
The Bruins continue their regular season dominance to start the 2023-24 season wi th five straight wins including three straight road wins. The Bruins continue their goalie rotation with Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman taking turns in every other game. Swayman comes in at 2-0 with a GAA of 2.02 as the Bruins once again find themselves near the top of the goals allowed standings this season after finishing atop the league last year. In his career, Swayman is 2-0 in his career against the Blackhawks while turning away 43-of-47 shots.
