Blue Jays vs. Tigers Expert Picks for Friday, May 24
Blue Jays vs. Tigers Expert Picks for Friday, May 24iv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

The Toronto Blue Jays look to keep rolling against the Detroit Tigers on Friday after winning four of their last five games, and we're looking at our Blue Jays vs. Tigers player props based on the best MLB odds.

If you squint just right while holding several four-leaf clovers and touch every piece of wood in sight, there just might be hope yet for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sure, the quality of competition has been lowered recently. But the Blue Jays' run production while winning four of their last five games has been impressive nonetheless, especially from a group that seemingly couldn't get a run home before if you bent the rules and spotted them a runner 10 feet from home plate.

The Blue Jays are coming off a 9-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. It was the third time in the last five games they're tallied nine runs, a stretch when the squad averaged 6.4 runs. That's a sizable step up for a club still sitting tied for 26th overall in run production at a meager 3.9 per matchup. Can the Jays keep rolling on Friday with a suddenly effective Alek Manoah on the mound?

Here are our best Blue Jays vs. Tigers player props and MLB picks (odds via our

Blue Jays vs. Tigers expert picks

Even if you believe Manoah is on his way to rebounding, the pitcher we're seeing now could be different than the one who thrived in 2022 en route to finishing third in Cy Young voting.

He's never been a flamethrower and has been heavily reliant on mixing in his onc e very effective slider to keep hitters off balance. He's still doing that now, but a different approach is factoring in early during 2024.

Manoah rarely threw his changeup during his early days, and it was seen on just 9.3% of his pitches in 2021, and only 11.2% during 2022. But now in 2024 his changeup usage has gradually inched up to 13.6%, and he's facing a Tigers lineup that boasts six hitters with an expected slugging percentage over .400 over better against changeups, according to Baseball Savant.

If Manoah regresses, a $10 wager at these -111 odds will lead to a $19 payout at a 52.63% win probability.

As expected, Varsho has come down from the stratospheric heights he reached earlier in the season. But he's still been productive, though with a clear approach to selling out for as much power as he can muster.

Varsho may never flirt with a high batting average. But when he does make contact, it's usually of the missile variety. His slugging percentage has soared compared to 2023, going from .389 to .458.

Being nearly halfway to his home run total a year ago already is certainly a factor (he's clubbed nine so far, and finished with 20 in 2023). But he's also an extra-base machine overall. Varsho has notched 33 hits through 47 games, and 19 have gone for extra bases.

That includes three over his last two games, with his latest dinger coming Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox. Better yet, the righty masher will now get to tee off against Matt Manning, who's allowing a .339 batting average and .979 OPS to lefties.

A $10 bet on these +110 odds pays out $21, with implied odds of 47.62%.

Best odds: +110 via Betway

Bichette's season has taken a sudden U-turn after he was careening toward rock bottom. His bat-to-ball skills are simply too great for his struggles to continue, and he's now posted a .773 OPS in May. That's still merely fine by his standards, but it's miles above his .577 OPS in April and March.

The surge has come lately too as Bichette's temperature rises, with the shortstop recording multi-hit games in three of his last four outings. That includes three hits against the Tigers on Thursday and a whopping four against the White Sox on Monday, three of which went for extra bases.

Inevitably, even the offensively challenged Blue Jays will put a man or two on base before balls sail into the outfield off Bich ette's bat. He's logged five of his 20 RBIs on the season across his last four contests, too, and scored three runs.

Ride the inferno-level bat here, and capitalize on the even-money odds while that price lasts. A $10 wager would lead to a $20 profit on implied odds of 50%.
