BetMGM, Caesars Washington D.C. Mobile App Launches Delayed

Washington D.C. sports bettors have to wait a little longer for BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook to go live in the District.

The two betting apps will soon join FanDuel in Washington D.C., but they're still waiting for final regulatory approvals, which includes D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser signing the FY 2025 budget into law. Both apps hoped to launch Monday, and BetMGM canceled an event at Nationals Park planned for Monday's expected launch.

“The mayor has not signed the official documentation yet,” BetMGM's director of public relations, Jennifer Arapoff, told via email. “Once that happens, we will have to follow procedure to test and then go live. Hoping she signs today and we could go live tomorrow, but it's all dependent on the mayor.”

Once final regulatory approvals are given, BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook will go live across the majority of the District. Each operator has a retail sportsbook in D.C., with BetMGM at Nationals Park and Caesars at Capital One Arena. Their respective apps are only allowed to be used within a two-block radius of their respective brick-and-mortar facility, though.
