Saturday's fight is the first for the 32-year-old Edwards since he decisioned Kamaru Usman in UFC 286 on March 18. The 35-year-old Covington, meanwhile, hasn't been in the Octagon since earning a unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal in March 2022.
Edwards won't be the only fighter with a title on the line Saturday. Flyweight champ Alexandre Pantoja takes on second-ranked Brandon Royval in the penultimate fight on the card. It's a rematch of Pantoja's second-round submission victory in August 2021.
