Denver led by as many as 21 but the Lakers closed to within three points twice in the fourth quarter. Game 2 is Thursday night in Denver. The Nuggets are 5.5-point favorites to take a 2-0 lead.
Jamal Murray backed Jokic’s big night with 31 points while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 21. Anthony Davis had 40 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, while LeBron James finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
