Best NHL player prop bets for Thursday, 2/16

Post-All-Star break, the NHL schedule has been much more balanced. That provides us with a solid 8-game Thursday night slate. Even if you aren't feeling many of the sides and totals, we have you covered with the player prop market. Before we dive in, it's worth noting that targeting skaters on the Jets against the Blue Jackets and Golden Knights against the Sharks should also be considerations. However, we've found great value elsewhere, so let's get into it.'

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today's action.

Sebastian Aho over 1.5 points (+165)

One of the first puck-drops takes place in Carolina, which is one of the most difficult places to play. That's just the cherry on top given the matchup taking place. The Hurricanes, the 2nd-best team in the NHL, are hosting the Montreal Canadiens, the 2nd-worst team in the Eastern Conference. Admittedly, the Habs are on a 3-game win streak, but those were all at home and the most recent was against a terrible Chicago Blackhawks team. Tonight will be quite a wake-up call when they take on Sebastian Aho and the 'Canes.'

We're expecting a big night from Carolina's center. The 25-year-old has feasted on the Canadiens in his career, recording multiple points in each of his last 3 games against them. He's also the leader on the powerplay unit, which should be in for plenty of ice time with Montreal committing the 2nd-most penalties in league. Coupled with the Canadien's having the 4th-worst penalty kill unit, Aho could record both of these points with the man advantage. Regardless, Montreal is allowing the 7th-most goals per game both overall and on the road, so we'll support a big night for Aho and company.
