Best NHL player prop bets for Friday, 2/17

Friday provides a great night of NHL action heading into a huge Saturday. We have a Metro Division rivalry in New York and the world's best skater in Edmonton trying to fire shots past last year's best goaltender in Rangers Igor Shesterkin. While those will be exciting to watch, they don't provide the best value in terms of player props. Instead, we've found 2 great sports with a skater getting revenge on his former team and picking on the league's worst defensive squad.'

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today's action.

Alex DeBrincat over 2.5 shots on goal (-160)

Let's get started with that skater out for blood against the team that traded him last summer. The Chicago Blackhawks traded DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators for multiple picks, including the 7th overall pick in 2022. He was the partner in crime to future Hall-of-Famer Patrick Kane, and the 'Hawks have never looked worse. Chicago is having a historically bad season, and now DeBrincat gets to have his revenge on home ice. If you have the option of taking over 3.5 at plus-money, we'd also suggest that.

We haven't been targeting shots on goal props as much this season due to the stat-keeping being inconsistent, but the left-winger should leave no room for debate. There's no doubt he's going to want to put it on his former team, which means plenty of shots on goal. He's 2nd on the team to Brady Tkachuk, but they play the same position, so are therefore on different lines. That means there should not be concern regarding his chances being taken away, and Chicago has been a great team for volume shooters. They're allowing the 7th-most shots per game and the 2nd-most on the road. DeBrincat has had at least 4 shots in 3 of his last 5 and 6 of his last 11 games. He should be even more eager to do so against his old team.'
