The Belmont Bruins will travel to the Great Southern Bank Arena on Wednesday evening in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup to take on the Missouri State Bears. The Bruins are 17-8 (10-4) so far this season and are coming off a 90-75 home win on Saturday against the Illinois State Redbirds. The Bears are 12-12 (8-6) so far and are coming off a 73-53 road loss on Sunday against the Southern Illinois Salukis. These teams played on Jan. 7 and the Belmont Bruins picked up a 74-61 home win.
The Belmont Bruins have been doing extremely well and are coming off a great 90-75 home win against the Illinois State Redbirds. They controlled the game in the opening half as they outscored Illinois State 44-33. They shot the ball at a solid level as they were 34-of-64 (53.1 percent) overall, 6-of-22 (27.3 percent) from three, and 19 free-throw attempts. Junior guard Even Brauns led the team as in 32 minutes he finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and one block. Defensively, they were brutal as they allowed 50 percent from the floor and 40.7 from deep here. Belmont needed to improve a bit as they forced 11 turnovers with seven steals and a pair of blocks throughout the game.
