Baltimore Orioles vs. Texas Rangers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 4-5-2023

The third and final game of this series between the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers takes place Wednesday afternoon in Arlington. Between July 4, 2022, and Monday night's contest, the Orioles took down the Rangers all seven times they faced off. These teams will meet again at the end of May, but that's not important right now. Both teams will be focused on the game in Globe Life Field on April 5, which begins at 2:05 p.m. EST.

The first three Orioles games in Boston were brutal for the pitching staff (and defense), as Baltimore allowed nine runs in all three games. A trip to Arlington cured that apparently, as they pitched a shutout in the series opener, winning 2-0. Kyle Gibson's first start was ugly, allowing four runs in 5.0 innings, but he can redeem himself immediately in this one. A former All-Star with the Texas Rangers, Gibson owns a 3.25 career ERA against Texas in eight starts.

Gibson will be backed up by an offense that is top-five in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS, and home runs early in the season. Adley Rutschman's sophomore campaign has flashed his MVP potential, while new addition Adam Frazier has mashed at the plate through the first week of games. Frazier is also 3-8 against Jacob deGrom in his career, much more success than most hitters can claim.

Baltimore is a young team that surprised many last season by finishing with a winning record. The Orioles didn't acquire any big names in the offseason but are banking on their young talent continuing to flourish at the big league level. They play in a tough division, but a postseason appearance should be on their minds this season.
