Bally Bet, WynnBET Move Toward Maryland Mobile Licenses

The Maryland Lottery deemed Bally Bet and WynnBET qualified for mobile sports wagering licenses Thursday, a key step as the two operators look to enter Maryland's newly launched mobile sports betting market.'

Seven mobile sportsbooks (Barstool Sportsbook, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet) went live in the state on Nov. 23. Marylanders took advantage of their presence, with GeoComply reporting more than'16 million geolocation transactions from Nov. 23-27.'

A few other operators — including Betfred, betPARX, and Fanatics — are expected to launch mobile sportsbooks in Maryland in early 2023. As for Bally Bet and WynnBET, those two operators still need to be awarded licenses by the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission before a potential mobile launch.''

It’s expected that up to 21 mobile operators could be active in the state by the spring or summer of 2023.
